Aly Kahn and the Aly Cats

 

Aly Kahn, a singer song-writer from New Jersey, is front man for Aly Kahn and the Aly Cats.  They have been playing together for the past 3-4 years and play a wide range of music genres, including blues, folk, folk-rock, rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and pop among others.

Martin Manley & Mason Razavi

Martin Manley, a jazz pianist and composer based in the South Bay. He is the musical director of the band ”@Jazz” which has played for many years at Savannah Chanelle’ summer music series, and has released 3 CDs. He has performed at Kuumbwa Jazz center, Café Pink House and Café Stritch. While living in London he contributed sessions keyboard work on several independent-label albums. The high-point of his UK career, however, was playing piano at a "Can-Can" revue in a nudist colony!!

 

Mason Razavi, a Bay Area guitar legend – a jazz guitarist, composer, and educator. His albums have garnered praise from critics and have received airplay internationally. Razavi has been described as a "thoughtful player and composer that offers the listener an introspective experience of deeper meaning" by Jazz Times.  He holds an M.A. in Jazz Studies from San Jose State University and a B.M. from the Berklee College of Music.

Martin Rossip – Tenor Sax.  Martin Rossip is a Bay-area sax powerhouse, having obtained the Bachelors & Masters degrees from the Juilliard school of music.  He has played & toured with Wynton Marsalis, the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Pacific Mambo Orchestra, the Four tops, the Temptations, Eartha Kitt and Jerry Lewis.

 

Martin Manley –Piano.  Martin Manley is a jazz pianist and composer based in the South Bay.   He is the musical director of the band ”@Jazz” which has played for many years at Savannah Chanelle’ s summer music series, and has released 3 CDs.  He has performed at Kuumbwa Jazz center, Café Pink House and Café Stritch.

 

Randy Whiting - Bass.  Randy has played upright and electric jazz bass around the south bay/Santa Cruz area for many years.  He currently performs and has recorded 3 CDs with Martin Manley and @Jazz, a south bay contemporary jazz group.  He studied jazz at the University of Nebraska under Dr. Reggie Shive and studied jazz bass with studio and 6-string bass recording artists, Dan Robbins and Todd Johnson. He worked closely with Azola Basses on the design of their unique 5-string Acoustic Baby bass and was an endorsing artist for the company.

Scott Barnhill – Tenor Sax. Saxophonist Scott Barnhill is a second generation Bay Area jazz musician, son of vocalist Louise DeLucchi and drummer Buddy Barnhill. He has had the honor of sharing the stage with Terrance Blanchard, Charlie Haden, Joe Henderson, Mulgrew Miller, Cedar Walton, Henry Robinette, Joe Gilman, Jeff Alkire, Peppe Merolla, Peter Horvath, and Zigaboo Modeliste.

Jeff Buenz – Bass/Guitar.  Guitarist/bassist Jeff Buenz is an in demand  native Bay Area jazz artis and educator who has a long list of performing and recording credits including

Viva Brasil, Stanley Turrentine, Flora Purim & Airto, Toninho Horta and countless regional and local artists.

 Special Guests – Bay-area jazz prodigies Felipe & Diogo Feldman

 

14 year-old Felipe Feldman has been playing the saxophone since 5th grade. He plays a variety of instruments including drums, vibraphone, clarinet and flute. In 2019, he participated in the California All-State Honor Jazz Band and received a nomination for outstanding middle school soloist from DownBeat Magazine. The Stanford Jazz Workshop had played a pivotal role in his development as a jazz musician. He is currently a member of the Stanford Miles Ahead high school big band.

 

Diogo Feldman, age 12, is a jazz pianist and jazz & classical trumpeter. As the youngest member of the San Jose Youth Symphony Philharmonic Orchestra he toured this past summer to Argentina and Uruguay, playing four concerts. Jazz-wise, Diogo has participated in many ensembles, including his school jazz band (playing trumpet) and the Giant Steps South Big Band (playing piano). He has received multiple awards, including the Outstanding Middle School Musicianship Award in the Stanford Jazz Workshop 2018, and the Outstanding Soloist Award in the Stanford Jazz Workshop 2019.

Saxophonist Kristen Strom has been a mainstay on the Bay Area music scene for nearly two decades, acclaimed for beautifully rendered melodies, exceptional tonality, and accomplished musicianship. Her latest album, Moving Day: The Music of John Shifflett, was listed as one of Best Jazz Albums of 2018 by The Mercury News and has gotten national and international airplay.  Her touring schedule has included performances across the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia. 

 

Bassist Noriyuki "Ken" Okada was born in New York and raised in São Paulo, Brazil and Yokohama, Japan. Reflecting the fact that he grew up in multiple different cultures, Ken enjoys playing in various styles, from jazz to samba to fusion. He played in the big band at Keio University as a visiting member from University of Tokyo, where he won Yamano Big Band Contest, the largest national college jazz competition in Japan. He started playing professionally in Tokyo until he moved to the Bay Area in 2002.

Von von Lindenberg has starred in film, theater, numerous commercials and guest starred in television shows for many years before turning towards the music stage. Von has opened for “Sly and The Family Stone”, performed at the Monterey Pop Festival with bands like "Jefferson Starship” and more. Although Von had been fronting a classic rock band, playing various artist and is the lead singer for “The Beautiful Blue Sky”. He is a singer-songwriter that loves to play acoustically. His powerful voice is emotionally soothing and his lyrics are thought provoking”. Von recorded his first single, "Forever Lovers" and then went on to record his first record titled,  “I Can’t Take it Anymore”. Von's latest CD titled, “ Break Free” is spiritually moving. 

Mladen Vukic, singer and multi-instrumentalist, is rocking Bay Area venues as lead vocalist for Dutch Uncle, a premier classic rock band. Mladen is best known as lead singer for The Kids, one of the biggest Bay Area bands to come out of the late 70’s.  The Kids toured internationally and shared the stage with Cheap Trick, Jefferson Starship, Greg Kihn, Huey Lewis, Journey, Steppenwolf, The Tubes, Oingo Boingo, Robbie Robertson and many more.  While still a teenager, Mladen and his band were featured in a 7-Up commercial and toured internationally.
