2009 Pinot Noir, Tina Marie Vineyard

The Tina Marie Vineyard is located in the Green Valley-Sonoma County sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley, west of Sebastopol. It is somewhat cooler than the overall portion of the Russian River Valley appellation and is ideal for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. We use the larger designation of the ‘Russian River Appellation’ on the label because of immediate recognition; however, Green Valley is coming into it’s own; many more labels will feature this outstanding appellation.

The 2009 vintage is astounding for the sheer aromatic fruitiness and extract that these wines have. The Tina Marie Vineyard Pinot Noir is a great example of this: lots of true Pinot black cherry fruit, blackberries and red currant fruits, very subtle and delightful hints of floral notes, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon spice. All of that wonderful fruit shines through on the palate where it mingles with the velvety tannins and balanced acidity. Long after the last sip, the magnitude of the fruitiness lingers on and on.
