The 2013 Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot shows black cherries and raspberries with pretty floral aromas mingling with the typical Santa Cruz Mountains minerality. Hints of oak spice of vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon carry through to the finish on a palate that is elegant with soft supple tannins.
VINEYARD NOTES: Our Estate Cabernet franc vineyard was planted in 1923. After speaking with many wine historians, including Charles Sullivan and Jim Lapsley, we feel confident that this is the oldest Cabernet Franc vineyard in the state of California. As with our Zinfandel and Chardonnay, this vineyard is dry-farmed. In 1999 we placed it up on a trellis for the first time in its then 76 years. This has helped to improve its ripening and relieved some of the stress of supporting itself so the old vines can place more of their energy into fruit production.
Green crisp apples, tropical fruit, oak spice and butterscotch are the dominant aromatics. The palate shows plenty tropical fruit along with the natural crisp acidity of the estate vineyard.
Earthy and spicy notes upfront, but opens up to reveal wonderful black cherry fruit that mingles so well with the spicy oak attributes. As so often happens, the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA brings a core of firm rich tannins and balanced acidity, and its calling card of minerality.
This 2010 offering has the typical Estate vineyard characters of cranberries, red cherries and mint. There are subtle oak influences of vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon that marry very well with the aromatics. The structure has a firm but pleasant upfront tannin feel with lots of fresh red berries on the palate. The crisp acidity keeps the palate alive and refreshing and will allow this wine to age for many years to come.
Beautiful aromatics of raspberries with a hint of peppermint. There is a slight eathy note that mingles wonderfully with a blackberry undertone. Black pepper spice and vanilla are subtle characters that come through on the finish once the explosive fruitiness dissipates.

Little did Masson know that he was preserving the world's only example of pre-phylloxera Corton-Charlemagne. The original vineyard in France died out long ago.
The estate pinot occupies a solitary single acre on the steepest part of the estate vineyard. The soil is composed of decomposed sandstone and is well drained. The clone is entirely 667 which is noted for its good color and small berry size, especially when planted on steep slopes.

The 2013 vintage Estate Chardonnay shows off with crisp green apples and honeydew melon in the nose. While citrus fruits, a hint of oak spice, vanilla and a touch of butter are to be found on the palate, which finishes with the refreshing crisp acidity of the green apple fruit.
The 2014 Tondre’s Grapefield chardonnay has a beautiful aromatic nose. Clean crisp citrus aromas such as grapefruit come shining through, with hints of cantaloupe and bosc pear.
The 2014 vintage Estate Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay shows crisp citrusy palmello / grapefruit, and honeydew melon in the nose. Oak, spice, vanilla and a touch of butter from the secondary ML fermentation blends well with the refreshing citrus fruits on the palate; while the crisp acidity contributes to the refreshing nature of this chardonnay.
Tropical fruits are dominant with hints of green apples. A toasty creaminess from the champagne yeast that is used in fermentation, and the natural crisp acidity, feels refreshing on the palate.
Opulent red Bing cherries and subtle hints of rose petal aromatics are consistent characters year in and year out for our Pinot Noir rose’ and this year is no exception.
After the pinot noir grapes are loaded into the fermentation tank, a portion of the juice is removed, chilled and fermented entirely in stanless steel to maintain it's delicate fruit-floral character. The skins of the grapes are slightly broken due to the processs of de-stemming releasing some of the color into the juice. The technical French term is "Saignee", and translates as "to bleed".
Crisp green apples, tropical fruit, and crème brûlée aromatics also appear on the palate with tutti-frutti berry fruit and a hint of toastiness. The crisp acidity, and creamy mid palate from the extended yeast contact creates a wonderful refreshing mouth-feel.
Candied red cherries, watermelon and a hint of citrus fruit topped with pretty floral, rose hip aromas describe this 2014 Pinot Noir Rose’.
The 2012 Monmartre blend is a compilation of: 47% Estate Zinfandel, 18% Carignane, 24% Cabernet Franc and 11% Coast View Syrah.
This wine shows all of these traits. It is elegant, fruity, and spicy with a clean natural acid balance and a finish that slowly gives up its oak attributes of cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.
Blueberries and black currants are the typical dominant fruity characters from this vineyard. There is a very subtle hint of white pepper spice that follows through on the finish after the cassis fades away. The structure is mouth filling, with velvety tannins and balanced acidity that will allow for many years of aging.
This 2013 Muns Vineyard Pinot Noir shows the typical minerality that can be found in Santa Cruz Mountains pinot; it also shows off the classic black cherry fruit associated with great Burgundies. Red bing cherries and blackberries are to be found along with oak spices, nutmeg and hints of vanilla. The palate is big and robust, showing off it’s velvety tannins and natural acidity that these mountains are known for. Although you can drink this wine now, it will benefit from further bottle aging as most great wines do.
The obvious bright cranberry fruit with a hint of mint is the estate signature of the Cabernet Franc, with undertones of blackberry and cherry fruit.
The 2010 is elegant, balanced and shows lush, true Burgundian black cherry Pinot Noir fruit. Subtle oak aromas and flavors are well integrated into the wine and play a supporting rather than dominating role. Cola nut and spice linger on the palate, while the beautiful black cherry fruit continues through to the finish.
VINEYARD NOTES: Our Estate Zinfandel vineyard was planted in 1910. It was expanded, and missing vines replanted in 1976. It is a beautiful example of the classic old-vine, head pruned, dry farmed Zinfandel vineyard, and one of the few that have survived in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
It has an amazing depth and purity of black cherry fruit with overtones of red currants and stone fruits. The fruitiness follows through all the way to the back of the palate where a hint of subtle oak spice lingers for a moment.
This blend is named after the Villa that stands adjacent to the Savannah Chanelle Estate vineyard. It is comprised of 22% Zinfandel, 55% Carignane, 12% Cabernet Franc, all from the estate, and 11% Coast View Syrah from Monterey.
Our Syrah is a bold, yet balanced, wine loaded with blueberry and black currant fruit and hints of white pepper spice. The palate shows the same abundance of fruity flavors and rich silky tannins with hints of nutmeg on the finish.
This blend of these great vineyards gives us a beautiful perfumed nose of black cherries, red cherries with just the right amount of oak and cinnamon spice. It has a wonderful mouth-feel of velvety soft tannins and balanced acidity, with a long fruity finish that lingers long after the last sip has gone.
This is an opulent wine showing an amazing depth of fruit and spice. The oak usage is subtle and only shows itself once you get past the beautiful black cherry and perfumed aromatics. The mouth-feel is rich yet elegant as all of the components are in perfect balance.
Black and red cherries and a hint of cola nut and vanilla oak spice aromatics are mirrored on the palate. Velvety smooth tannins and deep ruby color create a wonderful structure and mouth-feel that makes you come back for more.
It has true burgundian black cherry fruit and minerality which only the Santa Cruz Mountains seem to be able to provide. Subtle oak characters of vanilla, nutmeg and just a hint of cinnamon are barely noticeable above the beautiful black cherry fruit. The palate is big, with showy youthful tannins that will be tamed with experience and age.
Wonderful dominant red cherry and black cherry fruit are in abundance in this wine. The oak components of: vanilla, nutmeg and Cinnamon, are very subtle and allows the fruit to shine through. The palate is rich and pleasing, with firm yet velvety tannins and a long simmering finish.
The Tina Marie Vineyard is located in the Green Valley-Sonoma County sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley, west of Sebastopol. It is somewhat cooler than the overall portion of the Russian River Valley appellation and is ideal for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. We use the larger designation of the ‘Russian River Appellation’ on the label because of immediate recognition; however, Green Valley is coming into it’s own; many more labels will feature this outstanding appellation.
Subtle hints of oak and vanilla gave way to bright red Bing cherry notes and dusty earth. Blackberries and black cherries show magnificently on the well structured full and long palate. Great color, balanced acidity and silky soft tannins make this wine a prime candidate for aging, but it certainly drinks well now.
This wine has it all, red cherries, black cherries, bing cherries rounded out with juicy strawberries and raspberries. A litttle bit of cinnamon and vanilla comes through on the finish of the palate that is very balanced and elegant.
This is a blend of three vineyards from the cool Sonoma coast: Gunsalus (33%), Tina Marie (17%) and Armagh (50%). Although Tina Marie and Gunsalus are also in the Green Valley part of the Russian River AVA near Sebastopol, these outstanding vineyards are well within it's inland baoudaries. This offering to our club shows off its's AVA pedigree with possibly the greatest pinot vintage to date.
This blend is 90% pinot noir from the wonderful Armagh vineyard and 10% from the Muns vineyard here in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Located in the central part of the appellation, it is cooled primarily by fog which enhances the spicy characters of the grapes. Home to many great vineyards such as the Gary’s, which we used to make in the early noughties, (that’s the 2000s for the non Brits in the crowd.) the Tondre’ vineyard which happens to be a neighbour of the Gary’s, hails our return to this magnificent appellation.

This 2008 Syrah offers up classic Rhone aromas of blueberries, cassis and black berries. As always the mouth-feel is velvety, showing off the soft tannins that can easily get out of hand in this particular variety. The plush fruit explodes on the palate and lingers for an eternity; such is the amazing depth of fruit this wine brings.
This 2011 Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot blend is very complex and shows great depth of fruit and spice. Red and black cherries, candied cranberries with hints of raspberries. The palate is long, plush and elegant, with cinnamon spice and lingering black cherry on the finish.
This 2011 vintage from the Muns vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains, offers classic pinot noir varietal character: black cherries, red berry fruit and minerality. They are all held together in perfect harmony with the delicate interplay of balanced acidity and soft textured tannins. Hints of vanilla and cinnamon spice linger on the palate all the way to the finish. This is a wine worthy of further aging, yet will pair nicely with your favourite salmon dish.
Coast View Vineyard is an exceptional site and one that few wine lovers will ever see. Drive south to the Salinas Valley burg of Chualar, turn left and drive east, over hill and dale, ‘til the road ends at a gate. Thru the gate, over another mile or so of hill and dale to another, locked gate, and you’re still not there! And all this way, unless you know exactly where to look, you haven’t even caught a glimpse of the vineyard. In fact, until you emerge from the dirt track that winds up thru the canyon, pass thru yet another gate, and mount one final ridge, you haven’t a clue what awaits. Maybe this is for the better, because this site is so spectacular. It’s one of those sites that could only be planted by a determined visionary, or a lunatic.
The 2010 is a fine example of this effect, with aromatic notes of cassis and blueberries and a basket full of blackberries. The palate is full and plush, with moderate tannins and balanced acidity. The glorious depth of fruit carries through the palate from beginning to end and finishes with a hint of white pepper spice.
Although this blend is almost 40% Carignane, the dominant cabernet franc comes shining through with its bright cranberry notes. The Zinfandel offers up its glorious raspberry and black pepper spice, while the Carignane brings darker black berry fruits to the finish. This is all rounded off with a hint of blueberry from the wonderful Coast View Syrah. Aged for 21 months in Hungarian and American oak, yet the vanilla is a mere after-note that comes through on the finish. The palate is big and lush with soft textured tannins; perfect for pairing with your favourite meat dish.
Deep, dark, true black cherry fruit is a typical quality of great Burgundies, and this Muns pinot has it copious amounts.
This 2012 vintage shows great complexity which is derived from all of the five pinot vineyards we have the honour to work with. True pinot black cherry fruit, undertones of blackberries, flinty minerality, subtle floral hints with racy spicy notes are all in abundance in the nose and on the palate.

Cassis and blackberry fruit are the dominant fruit characters in this 2011 offering. This wine is both big and soft, with silky smooth tannins. Hints of white pepper spice float across the palate where it lingers with the wonderful cassis black current fruit.

This final vintage of the Armagh pinot noir is a bitter-sweet one for us at Savannah Chanelle as we say farewell to this wonderful vineyard. It has proven to be an outstanding producer of fine pinot for many years, and has garnered many accolades for us along the way; and what a vintage to go out on! The 2010 is glorious! It is balanced and structured, aromatic and textured, it is quite simply the best of all the vintages we have offered from this vineyard. Huge amounts of black cherry fruit, hints of cinnamon spice, touches of vanilla and a flourish of earthy tobacco on the finish. I suspect this will go down as one of the classic Savannah Chanelle pinots that we talk about for many years to come.
