2013 Pinot Noir- Santa Cruz Mountains, Coast Grade Vineyard

This wine shows all of these traits. It is elegant, fruity, and spicy with a clean natural acid balance and a finish that slowly gives up its oak attributes of cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.

The grapes for this delightful pinot noir come from the Coast Grade Vineyard near Bonny Doon on the western slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains. It is probably the coolest of all the pinot vineyards we harvest from and is one of the last picked also.  This coastal cooling influence allows the bright red cherry and cranberry fruit to fully develop without high sugars, resulting in lower alcohol. Pinots grown in very cool areas like these tend to be lighter in structure, and along with the aromatic red berry fruitiness, we also get pretty floral aromas. This wine shows all of these traits.
